The annual Sanborn County 4-H Achievement Day Event is generally held on the second weekend of August and is located in Forestburg. We begin with interview judging for display exhibits on Thursday evening. Friday kicks off with the Dog Show and Livestock Judging Contest. We move into the afternoon with our Poultry Show, Rabbit Show and Companion Pet Show. On Friday evening we enjoy a BBQ meal followed by a fun hour of Ag Olympics competition for all ages.
You are invited to return for the community pancake breakfast served by area businesses and our Sanborn County Commissioners on Saturday morning from 7-9 am. Saturday is a full day of livestock shows in the show ring. Swine will be exhibited first, followed by goats, dairy and breeding sheep.
We take a lunch break at noon to serve grilled burgers and hotdogs with SDSU ice cream, and showcase our 4-H members with a Parade of Purples in the 4-H Building. After lunch, we return to the show ring for our rabbit/companion pet/poultry highlight show, and then move to the market sheep and beef shows.
Each of the livestock shows will include showmanship competition, and then at the conclusion of the beef show will be the round-robin showmanship contest. Senior level 4-Her’s showcase their showmanship skills for showing all species in pursuit of the Grand Champion Round Robin Showmanship Award.
Come on over to support our 4-H members and enjoy the fun.
The 2025 dates are August 7-9.
